2- 0 Loss for the Preds

 

After clinching a playoff spot the Predators fall to the St. Louis Blues 2-0. The Preds had a sloppy start to the game giving up many turnovers in the first period. Though the Predators gave up a lot of turn overs Rinne was playing very well, and put a stop to all nine of the Blues’ shots.

The Preds also had a few good scoring chances themselves in the first period, including Fisher’s take away at 3:52 of the period. The first period concluded with no penalties and with 5 shots for the Predators and 9 for the Blues. The first period also lacked goals for either team.

In the second period the Blues scored their first goal against the Predators. TJ Oshie scored at 5:20 of the period lending an assist to both David Backes and Kevin Shattenkirk. The Predators were albe to hold off the Blues as they tried score for the rest of the period. Although Joel Ward‘s tripping call didn’t help the Preds any they were still able to keep the game close. Though they were unable to score on their own power play opportunity during the second period.

The Preds came back after the Blues first goal and put pressure on St. Louis. At 14:55 Sergei Kostitsyn served a great pass from behind the net almost allowing for Mike Fisher to get the tying goal, but Jaroslav Halak made the save and at the end of the period the Preds had not been able to tied up the game.

In the third period the Preds made their push to tie up the game and outshot the Blues 11 to 7 but were unable to catch up, and at 19:11 in the third Jonathon Blum made a terrible pass that resulted in Alexander Steen‘s goal bringing the game score to 2-0 at the end of the third.

All in all a disappointing end the the season, but atleast the Predators have clinched their playoff spot.
