Live Predators 2012 NHL Entry Draft Blog

After day one, the Nashville Predators were silent. No picks and no moves. There were talks though with, to our knowledge, only Ray Shero, GM of the Pittsburgh Penguins, about acquiring the rights of Ryan Suter, according to Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune. David Poile didn’t budge at all.

That concludes the 2012 NHL Entry Draft! The Nashville Predators drafted six forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender. The only trades involving the Preds were two pick-for-pick trades with the New York Rangers meaning Nashville still holds the negotiating rights of Ryan Suter up to July 1 and Shea Weber is still a Predator. It will take a few years to see if the Predators drafted another late round gem, such as Patric Hornqvist and Pekka Rinne, but by all accounts, it appears the Predators made some solid picks as well as good value picks in the later rounds.

Miikka Salomaki Head coach Barry Trotz of the Nashville Predators shakes hands with Miikka Salomaki drafted 52nd overall by the Predators during day two of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft at Xcel Energy Center on June 25, 2011 in St Paul, Minnesota.
