Nashville Predators prospects Miika Salomaki and Mikko Vainonen were named on Team Finland's 2013 World Junior preliminary roster. Salomaki, a forward, was drafted by the Predators in the 2nd round, 52nd overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Vainonen, a defenseman, was drafted in the 4th round, 118th overall in the 2011 entry Draft.
Miika Salomaki is with Karpat in the SM-Liiga this season. There, Salomaki has four goals, eight assists in 27 games.
Playing for the Kingston Frontenacs in the Ontario Hockey League, Mikko Vainonen looks to be heading down the path to the NHL. The OHL is the first stop, then the AHL and finally the big leagues. It will be interesting to see how he does developing in the next few years.
Vainonen has played 28 games scoring one goal and adding eight assists.
