The Milwaukee Admirals find themselves facing elimination Friday after a 2-0 loss to the Texas Stars Wednesday night. Recently reassigned by the big brother club Dallas Stars, Alex Chiasson scored the game winner 7:42 in the third off a redirection in front.
With 6:03 remaining, Kevin Connauton put the icing on the cake to score his second goal of the series on the power play.
Texas now leads the series 2-1 in a best-of-five with the two remaining games in Cedar Park.
Despite receiving six players from the Nashville Predators, the Admirals’ NHL affiliate, Milwaukee was unable to muster up a goal, and more importantly, a win. Chris Mueller, Kevin Henderson and Taylor Beck received minors, with Henderson’s roughing minor allow Connauton to score the second Stars’ goal.
Magnus Hellberg stood tall once more for his teammates, though they were unable to help him out. Hellberg stopped 29 of 31 shots. Chiasson’s goal snapped his scoreless streak at 107:42.
In the other net, fellow Swede Cristopher Nilstorp recorded his first shutout of the series turning away all 21 shots.
Game 3 is Friday at 7:30pm CST. The Admirals will have to win in order to force Game 5 and continue the series. Players like Mueller, Henderson, Bang, Austin Watson, and Mark van Guilder will have to step their game up as they seemed to absent most of Game 3.
