Thoughts on Both Teams

Predators: Nashville ends their home stand Saturday night against Anaheim. In this home stand, the Predators are 2-1-0 and have built a two game win streak.

The Predators will look to carry over the offensive spark from the third period of Thursday night's game against the Phoenix Coyotes into this game against the Ducks. Scoring has been a premium for the Preds, but due to the lineup changes Barry Trotz corrected, the players are starting to gel together.

For Nashville to win, they need score the first goal, keep the Ducks to the outside, block shots and give them no time or space.

Expect defenseman Hal Gill to return to the lineup Saturday after sitting out the past two games with an undisclosed injury. Trotz will put Gill back into the fold so he can play minutes on the penalty kill against a loaded Ducks team. Brian McGrattan was sent down to Milwaukee yesterday for a two week conditioning assignment.

Ducks: Saturday night's game in Nashville will be the second of back-to-back nights for the Anaheim Ducks. Friday night, they faced off against the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena and was able to come out with a 5-2 win. Fortunately for the Ducks, Saturday night will be their last game of the road trip, even though it was a very successful one.

Anaheim is hot right now, winning seven of their last eight games. The success right now is coming from Viktor Fasth, who is slowly taking over the starting role for the team. Fasth started his winning streak against the Predators in his first ever North American start.

Jonas Hiller is currently out with a lower body injury, but is close to returning. Expect him to come back into the lineup when Fasth's streak comes to an end.

Defenseman Cam Fowler is on injured reserve with a upper body injury. Fowler is key addition to the Ducks' back end, especially on the power play. However, the usual superstars like Teemu Selanne, Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry and Bobby Ryan have stepped up on the scoring end to make up for the loss of Fowler. And isn't it funny how the Bobby Ryan rumors have ceased for now with the success of the team.
