Beck, Piskula, Mazanec sent to Milwaukee; Stalberg on IR

Could the latest cuts be the roster heading into the first regular season game against the St. Louis Blues on October 3? Possibly. Sunday morning, the Nashville Predators placed Viktor Stalberg on injured reserve after suffering a shoulder injury Tuesday night in a preseason match. Stalberg is expected to miss two to three weeks.

The other roster move the Predators made was assigning forward Taylor Beck, defenseman Joe Piskula and goaltender Marek Mazanec to the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL. With the latest moves the roster now looks like…

Fifteen forwards: Gabriel Bourque, Rich Clune, Matt Cullen, Mike Fisher, Filip Forsberg, Paul Gaustad, Matt Hendricks, Patric Hornqvist, David Legwand, Simon Moser*, Eric Nystrom, Craig Smith, Nick Spaling and Colin Wilson.

Seven defensemen: Victor Bartley, Mattias Ekholm, Ryan Ellis, Seth Jones, Roman Josi, Kevin Klein and Shea Weber.

Two goaltenders: Carter Hutton and Pekka Rinne.

The defense and goaltenders appear to be set heading into the regular season, but there is still some decisions to make up front. With all the depth and the rise of value in Simon Moser, a trade is imminent.
