Thoughts on Both Teams
Predators: Nashville is on a major slump right now and are looking at not making the playoffs for the first time in a while. Currently, the Predators are on a four game losing streak, all of which coming on the road. They are in dyer need of points if they want to be in the playoff conversation.
Sergei Kostitsyn may be so deep in Barry Trotz's dog house right now, he may never come out. Yes, he is a top-six forward on the roster, but he hasn't produced nor competed to the high standard the organization has set. Kostitsyn shouldn't be in the lineup, but it will be determined before puck drop.
Hal Gill may in fact return from a lower body injury suffered February 23 in Detroit. The penalty kill and the defense in general for the Preds have been mediocre as of late and it would be huge to get Gill back into the lineup.
The three keys to victory for Nashville are 1) Play a full 60 minutes; 2) Don't wait until the final moments of the game to play; and 3) Execute on special teams.
Flames: Similar to the Preds, the Flames have been on a slump as well. Calgary has been pitiful on the road, going winless in their past seven games. Head coach Bob Hartley has had enough and expect him to switch the defense up a bit.
Sitting four points out of playoff position at 14th, the Flames want this win just as bad as the home team. Expect them to go balls to the wall Thursday night and have a similar showing like their last meeting a week ago.
