Chris Mason can’t find work in NHL; signs in Italy

Former Nashville Predators goaltender and unrestricted free agent Chris Mason has signed a contract to play in the Italian Serie-A League with Ritten Renon. Last season, Mason played in eleven games going 1-7-1 with a .873 save percentage and 3.73 goals against average as backup to star-netminder Pekka Rinne. It is fair to say Mason was terrible.

Mason, 37, started his NHL career in Nashville during, despite eing drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, playing eight seasons with the Predators, including the 1998-99 inaugural season.

It is likely the Red Deer, Alberta native's NHL career is all but done. However, I would like to see him return to Music City as an analyst for Fox Sports.
