Former Nashville Predators defenseman Andy Delmore has decided to hang up the skates and go into coaching. Delmore will be an assistant to the Ontario Hockey League's Sarnia Sting. Last season, the 36-year-old defender spent time in Austria and Italy, where he played hockey.
Predators' fans who have been with the team since the beginning will remember Delmore. He started his career in Nashville during the 2000-01 season, where he went on to play 144 games in two seasons posting 34 goals, 38 assists and had a -30 player rating.
During his stay in Nashville, the Predators weren't obviously as skilled as they are now. But having a -30 rating was atrocious. Many fans remember him because of his lack of defense and slow feet. My God he was slow! If you think Hal Gill and Douglas Murray are slow, you have yet to see Andy Delmore.
There were no highlights to be found on Delmore, but here is a notable video many fans will remember him by. A Windsor, Ontario native singing karaoke to "My Town" by Montgomery Gentry.
