Cincinnati Cyclones goaltender Zoltan Hetenyi has been called up to the Nashville Predators, in the NHL, for training camp, prior to the 2013 season. The Hungarian goaltender was invited to the Predators development camp in June. Then, Hetenyi was an undrafted signee by the Milwaukee Admirals in August.
Hetenyi announced his call-up on his Facebook page, as seen below.
Even though Zoltan Hetenyi was called up to the big league club for training, that doesn't mean he will be on the roster to start the season. It also doesn't mean he will be on the AHL roster with the Admirals. With Jeremy Smith and Magnus Hellberg in net for the Ads, it isn't likely Hetenyi will take one of their spots.
The Predators organization have invested a lot of time with Hellberg and Smith, and aren't going to throw it in the trash. So, expect Zoltan Hetenyi to stay in the ECHL with the Cyclones.
If fans get a chance to see Hetenyi in training camp, they will understand what is so special about this kid. He is so quick to learn and will work well with goalie coach Mitch Korn. It is a great opportunity for him in order to make a name for himself, outside of the minor leagues.
