Predators call up Victor Bartley from Milwaukee

Defenseman Victor Bartley has been called up to Nashville from the AHL roster, and according to Kyle Wilson, will likely dress this weekend.

Trotz promised some roster shakeups and the organization has delivered on all cylinders, with 3 players potentially dressing for the first time Thursday. They acquired forwards Boychuk and Butler off waivers, and have now called up the talented defenseman from the AHL.

Bartley has 26 points in 54 games this season with Milwaukee, which puts him in the top 20 for defenseman. Last year Barley was second in points among rookie blueliners.

Kyle Wilson suggested the Bartley will play this weekend, and it will be interested seeing how Trotz does that. Hal Gill is currently on IR, which leaves Weber, Josi, Klein, Hannan, Ellis and Blum. The Preds have played with 7 d-men in the past, and that has worked well for them. But that seems improbable for two reasons, the first being the recently acquired Boychuk and Butler. Trotz is probably eager to see both these players in action with the Preds and taking away a forward roster spot is a poor way to do it. The second reason is that amount of young defenseman in the 7 d-man unit. Having Gill as a 7th man made sense, he was slower and older but still talented enough to keep in the rotation. 4 young defenseman in the 7 is over the top. My guess is that Blum or Ellis sit, which is unfortunate as they have both played quite well this season.

Bartley was invited to Preds camp at the start of the year, but was sent back to Milwaukee.
