For second consecutive day, the Nashville Predators have signed a 2012 draft pick. Thursday was the signing of third rounder Brendan Leipsic of the Portland Winterhawks. And now Friday was the signing of Mikko Vainonen, a fourth round selection.
Vainonen signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Predators.
The 19 year old defenseman played in the OHL this past season with the Kingston Frontenacs. In 55 games, Vainonen totaled 22 points (4g, 18a) and a -11. He also represented his native country, Finland, in the IIHF 2013 World Juniors Championship.
Vainonen is 6'2", 222lbs and could bring some depth size to the Nashville defense core in the future.
