Tuesday night in a preseason match against the Tampa Bay Lightning, recently aquired forward Viktor Stalberg suffered an upper body injury during the first period. After taking a hit from Tampa Bay's Dmitry Korobov, Stalberg immediately went towards the bench and down the runway to the locker room holding his right shoulder.
Stalberg was signed to a four-year, $12 million contract on the opening day of free agency by the Nashville Predators after winning the Stanley Cup a couple weeks prior with divisional foe Chicago Blackhawks.
During the post-game press conference, head coach Barry Trotz said the Swede was day-to-day and that he will be out for the remaining two games of the preseason schedule Wednesday in Washington, D.C. and Friday in Long Island. Trotz added he will receive further evaluation Tuesday.
Nashville's 2013-14 regular season opens October 3 in St. Louis, six days after the preseason is complete.
