UFA Preview: Daniel Briere

Next up on the UFA Preview series is Daniel Briere of the Philadelphia Flyers. Once July 5 rolls around, if he is not re-signed by his current team, he is open to conversing and signing with any team in the league. ESPN's Pierre Lebrun the Predators are with the Canadiens and Devils in his short list.

Daniel Briere | C/RW

5'10 | 179lbs

10/6/77; Age: 35

Past Contracts

Signed in 2007: 8-years, $52 million; $6.5 million

Projected Earnings Next Season: $5 – 6 million

A top six forward is what the Nashville Predators need, a top six forward is what they'll get if they sign Daniel Briere. Last season, Briere hit an all-time low with the Flyers totaling only 16 points (6g, 10a) in 34 games. Given, he wasn't with the most stable team, he still has skill.

Briere can play either center or right wing, which gives the coaching staff flexibility on where to be placed on a line.

Adding Briere would be similar to when Nashville added Paul Kariya and Steve Sullivan. Both of them were skilled veterans who can still produce top-line quality.
