The Nashville Predators will be selecting fourth overall in the 2013 NHL Draft. Their pick will all depend on who the top three players select on draft day. Nashville could draft Seth Jones, Nathan MacKinnon, Jonathan Drouin, Aleksander Barkov or Elias Lindholm. We can only find out on June 30.
Despite losing the Memorial Cup, Seth Jones was able to finish atop of the NHL Central Scouting's prospect list. The defender is likely to go first overall to the Colorado Avalanche, but could slip if if they fill their defensive needs prior to draft day.
Endorsed by Sidney Crosby, Memorial Cup Champion and future NHL star, this is Nathan MacKinnon. MacKinnon finished second in the final rankings, but could easily be drafted first overall.
The most impressive player in the 2013 World Juniors Championship was Canadian Jonathan Drouin. Drouin led all Canadians in points throughout the tournament. In the 2012-13 campaign, Drouin was teammates with MacKinnon. Hear what the experts are saying about this guy.
It is very likely the Predators will be selecting Aleksander Barkov, a 6'3" center with extreme skill. The fans of team he played for in Finland, Tappara, donned him the nickname "Sasha", since he is Russian. Barkov is only seventeen and it could be a year before he is NHL ready.
Another prospect the Predators could be targeting is Elias Lindholm, a Swedish born center. If Nashville does draft Lindholm in the first round, it will be the third year in-a-row they have drafted a Swede with their first pick. Perhaps the Preds are turning into the Red Wings.
Lindholm finished third in international skaters. Having him and Forsberg on a line would be outstanding. See this kid play.
The NHL Draft is in Newark, New Jersey on June 30. Rounds 1-7 will take place on the same day.
