Know the Enemy: Predators vs Senators Preview

Monday night the Nashville Predators (26-28-10) will hit the road to play the Ottawa Senators (28-25-11) in their second and final meeting of the regular season.

Ottawa comes in desperately needing points to stay in contention in the Eastern Conference playoff race.  They currently sit just 4 points back of the Columbus Blue Jackets for the 8th and final playoff spot.

The Predators currently sit dead last in the Central Division trailing Dallas by 10 points for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.  At this point the season looks like a wash.  It will be interesting to see where they decide to go from here.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

 1. F Ales Hemsky.  The veteran forward was acquired at the trade deadline to boost the Senators offense and help them land one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.  At this point it has seemed to work out.  In 3 games with Ottawa he has 2 goals and 3 assists.

2. D Erik Karlsson.  The young defenseman continues to impress.  The former Norris Trophy winner leads his team with 57 points.  It is also an NHL best for a defenseman.

3.  G Craig Anderson’s play has to improve if the Senators are going to have any chance of making the playoffs.  His save percentage and goals against average rank near the bottom of the league.
