Rinne to start against Penguins; Dubnyk on waivers

Bad news Penguins fans (and the rest of the NHL) …

Pekka Rinne is set to return Tuesday night after recovering from an E. Coli infection in his hip.

Tuesday will be Rinne's tenth start of the 2013-14 season, first since October 22 in Minnesota, where he stopped 27 of 28 shots in a 1-0 loss. Rinne, 31, has a 4-4-1 record, 2.31 goals against average, and .917 save % thus far.

With the return of Rinne, that meant one goalie had to go. Devan Dubnyk, who was acquired in January via trade with the Edmonton Oilers, was placed on waivers Monday morning. Dubnyk has started in just two games since arriving in Nashville, but for good reason. He is winless and has a 4.35 GAA.

Any team will have the option to pick him up before he is sent to the minors where he will see very limited playing time. Dubnyk will be a UFA at the end of the season.
