The Milwaukee Admirals are hot. How hot?
They are the only team in the AHL without a regulation loss as they sit 6-0-2-0.
They hold the best winning percentage in the AHL with a .875 clip.
Including last season, the Admirals are 13-1-2-0 in their last 16 regular season games.
Over their last three games, the Admirals have scored 12 goals while allowing six, winning all three games. Last Wednesday, they won in comeback fashion in a 3-2 OT win against the Texas Stars. Goalie Marek Mazanec stopped 33 shots after the Ads fell behind 2-0 after the first period.
Ads' veteran Mark Van Guilder provided the game winning goal with 59.4 seconds left in OT to send the Admirals' fans home happy. This was the second straight game where the Ads trailed 2-0 and came out to win.
The Ads have shown they can comeback to win a game, but two days later, they also showed that they can play with a lead. The team held a lead for over 48 minutes in a 4-2 victory over the Rockford Icehogs.
The team then traveled to Des Moines, Iowa for their first ever game against the Iowa Wild (formerly the Houston Aeros). Donning the road blacks, the Admirals powered past the Wild, winning 5-2.
After facing a 2-1 deficit in the second, the Admirals never looked back, pouring on four unanswered goals. Mazanec, who has just been called up by the Predators, stopped 28 of 30 shots faced, as he improved to 5-0-0.
The Ads will remain on the road for a Texas-3 step this weekend. They meet the Stars again on Friday and Saturday night, before closing out the road trip on Sunday against the San Antonio Rampage.
