The Milwaukee Admirals couldn't capitalize on the numerous shots they put on Lake Erie Monster goalie Calvin Pickard, younger brother of ex-Admiral goalie Chet Pickard and earned the first star of the game. Milwaukee totaled 43 shots, while Lake Erie totaled only 19. The third period was where the Admirals were really putting it on, as they outshot the Monsters 15-1.
Michael Latta scored the lone goal for the Admirals off a Mike Moore shot from the blue line. Latta was all over the place throughout the game as just before he scored, he dropped the gloves with Brad Malone and went back to the penalty box in the 3rd period for hooking.
